Founder’s Biographic Information
Prior to founding KAYTEK International (1998 to 2004), Tony Kayyod was an executive for Delphi Corporation with responsibilities as Director, Global Engineering & Manufacturing Footprint. The Engineering scope included customer-focused growth, consolidation and integration of engineering centers with over 17,000 scientists, engineers and technicians in 17 countries. The Manufacturing scope included a balanced total low cost approach for all plant operations and distribution centers for a global customer base in over 50 countries. Tony led a multidisciplinary international team, which developed and implemented comprehensive business case and simulation models to improve speed, cost, innovation and competency. This team executed many large-scale intercontinental operations migration (expansion, relocation) projects with significant return on investment. The global customer focused execution of this strategy-achieved capital, floor space, expense and headcount synergy through leveraging outside services, consolidation and the development of a lean and common “Back Office” organization with constancy of purpose.
From 1994 to 1998, Tony was the Director of the Mexico Technical Center (GM then Delphi) since its inception, from vision to inauguration and operation. The project consisted of a multi million dollar investment for construction, equipment and start up costs associated with training all the technical staff. His management team was selected by GM's President Council as a recipient of GM's "Best of the Best" in 1995. At this tech center, Tony was responsible for product-process engineering, finance, purchasing, supplier development, customs and human resource activities and overall operations. Tony was also the Chief Engineer of Energy and Engine Management Systems in Mexico, responsible for lean engineering processes of a significant electromechanical and electromagnetic product development portfolio in Anti-Lock Brake, Engine Management, Fuel Economy, HVAC and Automatic Transmission Systems. (BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, GM, Holden, Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Opel, PSA, Renault, Vauxhall, Vaz, Volkswagen, Volvo...). His team met customer requirements, over a multitude of product launches for high and low volume production vehicles. These goals were accomplished through a rigorous and disciplined validation of all components, gauges, processes and tools.
From 1992 to 1994, Tony and his Core Management Team were part of a Business Team responsible for the successful financial turnaround of the under-performing Sensor and Solenoid Business. In the same period, the team optimized the product portfolio through divestiture and global growth.
From 1983 to 1992, Tony held several positions in Delco Remy, a Division of General Motors, as a Team Leader in Indiana, Marketing Manager in New York and Manufacturing Engineering Manager for operations in Mexico and Portugal.
Prior to that, he was the Industrial Marketing Manager at Condec Corporation for commercial and architectural industries and Project Engineer for the Instrumentation Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation working with chemical, paper, research and nuclear markets.
Tony received an MBA from Jacksonville State University in 1983 and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1978. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and has been awarded 3 patents.
